Welcome to Aurora!
We founded this project in 2020, and only now (April 2026) are we emerging from our beloved hermitage and sharing (almost) everything with you.
Aurora is a weird NGO that works with regenerative agriculture, architecture, urbanism, conservation, philanthropy, education, tourism, self-sufficiency, finance.....and a few other buzzwords.

Five years ago, we set out to create “a great Plan B for family and friends” while following Permaculture principles. After a handful of setbacks and major life changes, we turned the whole venture into a big, fun experiment.

Aurora is now a non‑profit that studies and implements both creative solutions and boring‑but‑well‑proven technologies, blending them to find fresh ways of building micro‑residential complexes that are actually good for the natural and social environment.
In short, we are constructing five experimental homes and several support structures inside a tropical organic farm, where every element is designed to integrate with the rest and where we examine and refine every detail from the ground up.

These residential and agricultural spaces are used by locals, short‑term residents, students, collaborators, effective altruists, professionals, and anyone else who wants to join us for a while. Additionally, all the profits are used to finance local projects that have a measurable positive impact in our community.

We are fortunate to run such a large and costly experiment, and we hope our efforts will help others help themselves and their surroundings.

Because Aurora is an NGO, our success is measured by our usefulness to others, whether they are the inhabitants of Santa Fe or the students, professionals, friends, and tourists who visit.

  • Open Technology
We needed software that fit the way we actually work, so we built it ourselves. It runs our farm, tracks our projects, and stores everything we know. It's open to the public and open source.
